About Me
I’m Teresa Verney – a singer, voice teacher and group leader based in Sheringham, North Norfolk. I run community singing groups, offer individual voice work, and organise singing holidays.

My Work
My work is rooted in the belief that everyone has a voice worth hearing, and that singing can be a powerful path to healing, connection and joy.
A turning point came in 2000 when I attended a ‘Find Your Voice’ workshop with Frankie Armstrong. For the first time, I felt completely accepted in my voice – no judgement, just freedom. Since then, voice work has become the heart of what I do, blending my background in music and psychotherapy.
In 2018, I began studying vocal improvisation with Briony Greenhill, whose work helped me break through deep-set beliefs and strengthen my connection to myself and my voice.
I now lead two community groups, run weekend retreats and singing holidays, and support individuals to discover their voices in a safe, welcoming space.

My Story
My path has been anything but straightforward. I began as a weaver and spinner, later training and working as a social worker for 15 years. Alongside that, I sang in the CBSO chorus and returned to playing the oboe. Eventually, I followed my teenage dream of studying music and gained a degree in oboe, piano and voice.
I also trained as a psychotherapist, drawn to understanding the human condition. That interest continues to inform my work with voice today.
In 2008, I moved to North Norfolk with my husband Nick and our dog Oscar. I’ve learned to embrace new challenges – including discovering I can paint after believing I couldn’t for years. That experience reinforced what I now know deeply: we’re so often held back by fear, and once we move past it, surprising things can happen.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me swimming in the sea, walking, playing golf or tennis, cooking for friends, or spending time with my big, wonderful family.
